ALECK JERRY SAMUELSON

Built around the sea.

From sportfishing and transatlantic passages to long-range expedition yachting, my career has been shaped by the places a yacht can take you—and by the responsibility of getting there safely.

My work has always combined the bridge and the engine room. I have commanded private yachts and fleets up to 250 feet, crossed oceans, completed a five-year circumnavigation, and spent more than a decade aboard the 102-foot expedition yacht Beothuk.

FEATURED VOYAGE

The Northwest Passage

In 2024, Beothuk undertook her second Northwest Passage adventure. The voyage began in Fort Lauderdale and continued through Jamaica, Panama and the Galápagos before heading north toward Alaska and into the Canadian Arctic.

Serving as both captain and chief engineer, I experienced a part of the world where navigation, machinery, weather and ice demand constant attention.
